COMPLETION OF DEVELOPMENT PLAN
NOTICE is given that preparation of the above-mentioned part
development plans were have been completed.
The part development plans relates to land situated in Sololo
Makutano and Sessi Area within Marsabit County.
Copies of the part development plans has been deposited for public
inspection at the office of the County Physical Planning Office.
The copies so deposited is available for inspection free of charge
by all persons interested at the office of the County Physical Planning
Office, between the hours of 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Any interested person who wishes to make any representation in
connection with or objection to the above-named part development
plans may send such representations or objections in writing to be
received by the County Physical Planning Officer, P.O. Box 384-
60500, Marsabit, within thirty (30) days from the date of publication
of this notice and such representation or objection shall state the
grounds on which it is made.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT STUDY REPORT
FOR THE PROPOSED KAMUNGI CONSERVANCY ELECTRIC
FENCE IN MTITO ANDEI WARD, KIBWEZI EAST SUB-
COUNTY. MAKUEN1 COUNTY
INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS
PURSUANT to Regulation 21 of the Environmental Management
and Co-ordination (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003,
the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has
received an Environmental Impact Assessment Study Report for the
above proposed project.
The proponent, County GOvernment of Makueni, proposes to set
up an electric fence of two live wires separated by 15 feet and one
earth wire that runs along the ground (dug underground or pegged in at
intervals) and will be set 5 to 6 foot off the ground to be used as an
elephant barrier in fv1tito Andei ward, Kibwezi Fast Sub County,
Makueni County.
The following are the an cipated impacts and proposed mitigation
measures:

• Selective clearing of vegetation limited to
the fence alignment section only.
• Rehabilitation of degraded vegetation
destroyed during the construction of the
fence.
Maintaining of wildlife migration corridors
and ecological sites.
Restricted movement of machinery,
materials and all construction activities to
during the day only.
• Maintenance of modicum of silence, use of
designated routes, avoidance of using noise
prone machinery.
• Strict use of machinery and vehicles that
are serviceable.
• Backfilling of excavated areas.
• Proper drains should also be erected along
erosion prone sections.
• Transportation and proper disposal of all
solid wastes from the conservation area.
• Strategic wikllife management.
• Strict erection of two-strand fence only to
control the large wild animals only.
• Public awareness and involvement of KWS
in managing conflicts with small wild
animals.
• The electric fence should be fitted with
warning signs.
• Provision of emergency numbers in case of
accidents.
