GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 3522

Pursuant to section 6(2) of the IEBC Act, 2011 a person is qualified for appointment as a member of the Commission if such person— (a) holds a degree from a recognised university; (b) has proven relevant experience in any of the following fields— (i) electoral matters; (ii) management; (iii) finance; (iv) governance; (v) public administration; (vi) law; and (c) meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. A member of the Commission shall be appointed for a single term of six years and shall not be eligible for re-appointment. Members of the Commission shall serve on a full-time basis. Important Notes According to Article 88 (2) of the Constitution, a person is not eligible for appointment as a member of the Commission if the person— (a) has, at any time within the preceding five years, held office, or stood for election as— (i) a member of Parliament or of a county assembly; or (ii) a member of the governing body of a political party; or (b) holds any State office. 1. Application Process (a) All applicants are required to fill the Job Application Form for Appointment of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (2021) (Form SP1) which may be downloaded from the internet at www.parliament.go.ke. (b) Applicants should attach, to their applications, copies of their academic and professional certificates, testimonials and current clearances from DCI, HELB, KRA, EACC, relevant professional bodies and any of the Credit Reference Bureaus. (e) Hand-delivered applications should have a return mobile phone number or email address clearly written on the sealed envelope for purposes of acknowledgement. (f) All applications must be received on or before Monday, 17th May, 2021 at 5.00 p.m. (East African Time). *Women, youth and persons with disability are encouraged to apply. 2.
