GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 2580

PURSUANT to section 8 of the Statutory Instruments Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport notifies the general public that a Regulatory Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed Kenya Roads (Roadside Stations) Regulations, 2025, to assess the impact of the Regulations on the community and businesses. 778 778 The main objective of the proposed Regulations is to support the effective management and usage of highways for road users especially long-distance travellers and guide the development of Roadside Stations pursuant to section 46 (2) (b) of the Kenya Roads Act. Specifically, the Regulations seek to provide for: (a) the development, operationalisation and management of roadside stations; (b) the requirements for services and amenities in a roadside station for use by motorists and other road users; (c) enhancement of road safety through the provision of rest facilities for drivers; (d) the promotion of investment and socioeconomic development in Kenya; (e) the enhancement of safety for cargo in transit; (f) strengthening roadside development control; and (g) the enhancement of revenue collection by increasing efficiency in the logistics chain along national roads. The Cabinet Secretary, therefore, requests all persons likely to be affected by the proposed Regulations to submit written memoranda to reach the Cabinet Secretary within fourteen (14) days from the date of publication of this notice to the email address dpsc@kenha.co.ke.
