IT IS notified for the general information of the public that the Governor of Bomet County, Joyce Laboso, has appointed a Taskforce on the Improvement of Education and Vocational skills training in Bomet County comprising of the following— Kirui Kipngetich (Dr.)—Chairperson Members Mary Cherotich Gabriel (Sis.) Stephen Kosgei (Dr.) Augustine Rugut (Bsp Dr.) Kipkirui Rono Maramba Samuel Kiprono Daniel (Fr.) Johana K. Langat Joseph Malel Langat Sigei Cornelius Christopher Mutai Evangeline Kemunto Magaki Joseph Serem Paul Kimetto 2. The Terms of Reference of the Taskforce are to— (a) assess the factors that led to poor performance of students in the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary (KCSE) examinations and recommend mitigation measures; (b) evaluate the preparedness of County Vocational Training Centers to offer competitive skills training to the high number of students who were unable to attain cut off points to be admitted to join universities and other advanced tertiary institutions; and (c) consider and propose appropriate mechanisms for structured collaboration and co-operation between the county government and national institutions that are involved in the advancement of skills training including Technical Training Institutes (TTIs). 3. In performance of its functions, the Taskforce may— (a) carry out such studies/research as may inform on its mandate; or (b) conduct any other activities required for effective discharge of its mandate 4. The Secretariat of the Taskforce shall be based at the Department of Education and VTC in the County Government of Bomet. 5. The Taskforce shall submit the final report by the 20th of March, 2018.
