GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 15567

NOTICE is given to all Senators that pursuant to Standing Order 33 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders, on the request of the Senate Majority Leader, with the support of the requisite number of Senators; And further upon receipt of a letter from the Speaker of the County Assembly of Meru, Ref: CAM/RES/VOL.V/2, dated the 15th December, 2022, received in the Office of the Speaker of the Senate on 15th December, 2022, by which the Speaker of the County Assembly of Meru informed the Speaker of the Senate of the approval, by the County Assembly of Meru, of a Motion for the removal from office, by impeachment, of Hon. Kawira Mwangaza, the Governor of Meru County; I have appointed Tuesday, 20th December, 2022, as a day for a special sitting of the Senate. The sitting shall be held in the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, commencing at 2.30 p.m. The business to be transacted at the sitting shall be the hearing of the charges against Hon. Kawira Mwangaza, the Governor of Meru County. In accordance with standing order 33(5) of the Senate Standing Orders, the business specified in this Notice shall be the only business before the Senate during the special sitting, following which the Senate shall stand adjourned until Tuesday, 14th February, 2023 at 2.30 p.m. in accordance with the Senate calendar.
