APPOINTMENT


PURSUANT to the provisions of the Constitution of Kenya and sections 5, 34, and 35 of the Judicial Service Act, 2011, the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya and the Chairperson of the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ), appoints the following to be members of the NCAJ Standing Committee on the Administration of justice for Children. The Committee shall: (a) Formulate and review laws and policies relating to the efficient administration of justice for children; (b) Implement, monitor, evaluate and review strategies for the administration of justice for children matters; (c) Establish and promote inter-agency collaboration and co- operation on efficient administration of child justice; (d) Identify legal, institutional, administrative, and financial barriers that impede the efficient administration of child justice and make recommendations to the Council; (e) Promote social transformation through access to justice for children; (f) Initiate and oversee the implementation of standards on the quality of child care and infrastructure; (g) Mobilize resources for the efficient administration of justice for children; (h) Organize and engage stakeholders on emerging issues relating to child justice; (i) Oversee the implementation of the recommendations of various strategic publications by NCAJ on issues relating to child justice; (j) Oversee the undertaking of studies to deepen, expand and advice the efficient administration of justice for children; and (k) Carry out such other functions as may be assigned by the Council. 2. In the discharge of its mandate, the Committee may, on temporary basis, identify and invite relevant technical expert(s) on a specific issue or agenda. 3. The Committee may co-opt other members as necessary to assist with the realization of its objectives as long as the co-opted members do not exceed two. 4. The Committee shall report to and update the NCAJ Council on its progress every quarter. 5. The membership of the Committee shall be renewed every three years. Dated 4th of April, 2022.
