GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 11251

NOTICE is given that pursuant to the notification by the Governor, Nyeri County, the first sitting of the third County Assembly shall be held on Wednesday, the 21st September, 2022 at 9.00 a.m. in the County Assembly of Nyeri Chambers, Ruring’u. Pursuant to section 21 (5) (a) of the Elections Act and Standing Order 4 of the County Assembly of Nyeri Standing Orders, the office of the Speaker of the County Assembly of Nyeri shall fall vacant on the said First Sitting. At that sitting, the Speaker of the County Assembly shall therefore be elected in accordance with Article 178 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, section 21 of the Elections Act and Standing Order 4 of the County Assembly of Nyeri Standing Orders. Interested and qualified persons who are eligible for nomination and election as Speaker of the County Assembly in terms of Article 178 and 193 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and section 25 and the First Schedule of the Elections Act are therefore invited to collect nomination papers from the Office of the Clerk of the County Assembly, County Assembly of Nyeri Offices, Ruring’u, between the hours of 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. commencing Thursday, the 15th September, 2022 and ending on Monday, the 19th September, 2022 at 9:00a.m. Completed and signed nomination papers, together with detailed curriculum vitae of the candidate, academic certificates and relevant supporting documents should be returned to the Office of the Clerk of the County Assembly at the County Assembly Offices, Ruring’u at least forty-eight (48) hours before the Assembly assembles for the purposes of the First Sitting, that is, not later than Monday, the 19th September, 2022 at 9.00 a.m. Dated the 16th September, 2022.
