GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 11256

IT IS notified for the information of the general public that pursuant to section 21 of the Elections Act, the Office of the Speaker of the Nyandarua County Assembly shall become vacant upon the first sitting of the County Assembly on Friday, the 23rd September, 2022, where upon an election to fill the vacancy shall be conducted on the same day. Article 178 of the Constitution provides that each county assembly shall have a speaker elected by the county assembly from among persons who are not members of the assembly. Further, section 21 of the Election Act provides that the speaker of a county assembly shall be elected by each county assembly in accordance with the Standing Orders of the County Assembly. Accordingly, interested persons who are eligible for election as Speaker of the County Assembly in accordance with the aforementioned provisions of the law are invited to collect nomination papers from the Office of Clerk during the working hours (8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) from today Friday, the 16th day of September, to Wednesday, the 21st September, 2022. Further, any interested person is required to have— (a) A clearance from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission certifying that the candidate is eligible for election as a member of County Assembly; (b) A clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau; (c) A compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority; (d) A clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; (e) A clearance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation; and (f) A clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board Handwritten application letters accompanied with completed nomination papers, the curriculum vitae of the candidates and relevant supporting documents shall be submitted to the Office of the Clerk of the County Assembly at Nyandarua County Assembly Chambers, Ol Kalou at least fourty eight (48) hours before the first sitting of the County Assembly, being not later than 9.00 a.m. of Wednesday, the 21st day of September 2022.
