GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 9233

THE CONSTITUTION

APPOINTMENT


IT IS NOTIFIED for the information of the general public that the positions of the chairperson and members of the Commission on Revenue Allocation shall fall vacant on 31st December, 2016. Under Article 215 (2) of the Constitution, the Commission on Revenue Allocation shall consist of the following persons appointed by the President — (a)a chairperson, who shall be nominated by the President and approved by the National Assembly; (b)two persons nominated by the political parties represented in the National Assembly according to their proportion of members in the Assembly; (c)five persons nominated by the political parties represented in the Senate according to their proportion of members in the Senate; and (d)the Principal Secretary in the Ministry responsible for finance. PURSUANT to Article 215 (2) (c) of the Constitution, the Senate invites applications from qualified persons wishing to be nominated by political parties represented in the Senate to fill the vacancies under Article 215 (2) (c) of the Constitution. To qualify for appointment, a person is required, pursuant to Article 215 (4) of the Constitution, to have extensive professional experience in financial and economic matters; and further, pursuant to section 6 (1) of the Commission on Revenue Allocation Act to- 7th November, 2016 (i)hold a degree from a university or an equivalent professional qualification recognized in Kenya; (ii)have professional experience in financial and economic matters of at least ten years; (iii)have a distinguished career in their respective fields; and (iv)meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. Applications (together with certified copies of certificates and testimonials) should be submitted so as to be received on or before Thursday, 17th November, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. The application shall be in a sealed envelope clearly marked "Application for Member of the Commission on Revenue Allocation" and shall be addressed to Clerk of the Senate/ Secretary, Parliamentary Service Commission, P.O. Box 41842-00100, Nairobi or hand- delivered to the Office of the Clerk/Secretary, Parliamentary Service Commission, First Floor, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi or emailed to csenateeparliament.go.ke. The names of all those who apply shall be published in the print media and in the Kenya Gazette. Dated the 3rd November, 2016. J. M.
