IN EXERCISE of the powers cotlferred by Reguiation 6 of The Sugar (I1np(7r:s;, Ey ports and By-producls (Amendment) Regulâtions. 2006', and pursuant to the provisions of Legal Notice No. 12 of 2004. The Kenya Sugar Board hereby notifies all registered importers who wish to import quantities of sugar during the year 2007 under COMESA Safeguard Regulations as specitied below- ' . (a) Raw/mill white yl/ptzr All registered importers of raw/mill white sugar shall import up to a maximum of 89,000 metric tonnes duty-free from COMESA IRTA countries and such quantities shall be impprted over the period of 1st March, 2007 to 28th February, 2008. lmpdrts of any quantities over and above 89, 0O0 metric tonnes shall be subject to 100% custom duty. (b) White rçf??c# sugar (#?r industrial u.%e) Registered importers of white refined sugar for industrial use shall import up to a maximum of 1 1 1 ,000 metric tonnes duty-free from COMESA FT'A countries and such quantities shall be imported over thc period of 1st March, 2007 to 28th February, 2008.
