THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY CUSTOMS MANAGEMENT ACT

NOTIFICATION

IT IS notified for the general information of the public that in exercise of the powers conferred to the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning under section 114 (2) of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, read together with item 20 Part B of the Fifth Schedule to the Act, and in light of the notification of the current sugar crisis in the country by the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning directs that 290,000 metric tonnes of white or brown sugar may be imported into the country duty free on or before 30th December, 2023.
