GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 380

NOTICE is given to all Senators that— PURSUANT to section 33 (3) of the County Governments Act, 2012 and standing order 75 (1) (a) of the Senate Standing Orders, the Speaker of the Senate convened a meeting of the Senate on Tuesday, 21st January, 2020, to hear charges against Hon. Ferdinand Ndung'u Waititu Babayao, the Governor of Kiambu County; FURTHER pursuant to standing order 75 (1) (b) (ii) of the Senate Standing Orders, the Senate, by Resolution, on Tuesday, 21st January, 2020, resolved to investigate the proposed removal from office by impeachment, of Hon. Ferdinand Ndung'u Waititu Babayao, the Governor of Kiambu County in plenary; AND THAT pursuant to standing order 30 (1), as read together with standing order 1 of the Senate Standing Orders, on the request of the Senate Majority Leader and with the support of the requisite number of Senators, I have appointed Tuesday, 28th January, 2020 and Wednesday, 29th January, 2020 as days for Special Sittings of the Senate to investigate the proposed removal from office, by impeachment, of Hon. Ferdinand Ndung'u Waititu Babayao, the Governor of Kiambu County; . The sittings shall be held in the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, as follows — (a) on Tuesday, 28th January, 2020, commencing at 9.00 a.m; and (b) on Wednesday, 29th January, 2020, commencing at 9.00 a.m. In accordance with standing order 30(5) of the Senate Standing Orders, the business specified in this notice shall be the only business before the Senate during the Special Sittings, following which the Senate shall stand adjourned until Tuesday, 11th February, 2020 at 2.30 p.m. in accordance with the Senate calendar.
