GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 10904

IT IS notified for the information of the general public: THAT PURSUANT to Article 181 of the Constitution and section 33 of the County Governments Act, 2012, on the 3rd December, 2020, the Nairobi City County Assembly approved a motion for the removal from office, by impeachment, of Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko, the Governor of Nairobi City County; AND THAT by a letter, Ref: NCCA/SPK/12/2020(1), dated 4th December, 2020, received in the Office of the Speaker of the Senate on Friday, 4th December, 2020, the Speaker of the Nairobi City County Assembly informed the Speaker of the Senate of the approval of the Motion by the Nairobi City County Assembly and further forwarded to the Speaker of the Senate documents in evidence of the proceedings of the County Assembly; AND FURTHER THAT pursuant to section 33 of the County Governments Act, 2012 and standing order 75 of the Senate Standing Orders, the Senate investigated the proposed removal from office, by impeachment, of Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko, the Governor of Nairobi City County, in Plenary; AND THAT pursuant to Article 181 of the Constitution, section 33 of the County Governments Act, 2012 and standing order 75 of the Senate Standing Orders, on Thursday, 17th December, 2020, the Senate resolved to remove Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko, the Governor of Nairobi City County, from office, by impeachment, on the following charges — 1. Gross violation of the Constitution or any other law; 2. Abuse of office; 3.
