GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 3836

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, 2011 and section 3 of the Marsabit Municipal Charter, I, Mohamud Mohamed Ali, Governor of Marsabit County, approve the transfer of the following functions to be undertaken by Marsabit Municipality Board, with effect from the 13th March, 2020: (a) Promotion, regulation & provision of refuse collection and solid waste management services; (b) Promotion and provision of water and sanitation services and infrastructure; (j) Regulation of outdoor advertising; (k) Construction, maintenance and regulation of Municipal markets and abattoirs; (1) Construction and maintenance of fire stations; provision of fire-fighting services, emergency preparedness and disaster management; (m) Promotion, regulation and provision of Municipal sports and cultural activities; (n) Promotion, regulation and provision of animal control and welfare; (o) Development and enforcement of Municipal plans and development controls; (p) Provision of Municipal Administrative services (including construction and maintenance of administrative offices); (q) Promotion of infrastructural development and services within the Municipality; (r) Collection of rents, rates, taxes, levies, duties, fees and surcharges on fees The County Executive Committee Member for Finance shall put in place arrangements to ensure that resources necessary for the performance of the above functions and provisions of the above services are provided for and are transferred to the Marsabit Municipal Board.
