ACQIJISITION OF THE BUSINESS OF THE EAST AFRICAN BUILDING
SOCIETY
NOTICE is given that, with the approvat of ttte Minister for
Finance given pursuant to the provisions of section 55A and 55B of
the Building Societies Act, that with effect from 31st October, 2005,
EABS Bank Limited (formerly known as Akiba Bank Limited) has
acquired all the assets and Iiabilities of the East African Building
Society which has been carrying on business of a building society at
L.R. 209/9335, Fedha Towers Building, Muindi Mbingu Street,
Nairobi and elsewhere in the Republic of Kenya.
Accordingly:
(a) EABS Bank Limited has taken over all the assets of the East
African Building Society and assumed all of the liabilities of
The East Aflican Building Society.
(13) All debts payable by or to thc East African Building Society
are now payable by or tb EABS Bank Limited.
(c) All charges, mortgages, guarantees. pledges, bonds and other
security documents, contractss agrcements, instruments and
other transactions entered into by or made in favour of Tlle

Assessment and Andit) Regufations, the National Environment
Management Authogity (NEMA), has rcceived an environmental
ifnpact assessment study repoq for the proposed Transmara Sugar
Company in Kciyan Division. Transmara' District in Rift Valley
Province. .
The prgposcd prtjcct shall be built on a 70 acre t)f land, on L.R.
Nos. Transmar=Isampin/276/354/378/383 on map sheet 144/1 of the
Survey of Kcnya. It is marked by latitudes and longitudes 10 0' 2'' and
34G 43' .1 '' E respectively and grid reference 670.9 and 9989.8 in
Keiyan Division ot 'l'ransrtlara District.

The project aims at establishing 500TCD capacity modern sugar
factory and its subsequent expansion to 800 TCD in Enoosaen area of
Keiyan Division so as to commercially and competitively provide the
cane farmers in the area with an alternative, timely and competitive
milling facility as well as sugarcane growing support services.
The project anticipates the following impacts and mitigation
meaSurCS:
