GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 8732

NOTICE is given to all Senators that— PURSUANT to section 33 (3) of the County Governments Act, (Cap. 265), and standing order 80 (1) (a) of the Senate Standing Orders, the Speaker of the Senate convened a meeting of the Senate on Monday, 30th June, 2025, to hear charges against Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, the Governor of Isiolo County; FURTHER pursuant to standing order 80 (b) (ii) of the Senate Standing Orders, the Senate by Resolution, on Monday, 30th June, 2025, resolved to investigate the proposed removal from office by impeachment, of Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, the Governor of Isiolo County in plenary; AND THAT pursuant to standing order 33 (1), on the request of the Senate Majority Leader and with the support of the requisite number of Senators, I have appointed Tuesday, 8th July, 2025, Wednesday, 9th July, 2025, and Thursday, 10th July, 2025 as days for Special Sittings of the Senate. The sittings shall be held in the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi. The sittings shall be held as follows— (a) on Tuesday, 8th July, 2025, commencing at 9.00 a.m.; (b) on Wednesday, 9th July, 2025, commencing at 9.00 a.m.; and (c) on Thursday, 10th July, 2025 commencing at 9.00 a.m. until the conclusion of the business of the day. The business to be transacted at the sittings shall be the investigation of the Proposed Removal from Office by Impeachment of Hon. Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, the Governor of Isiolo County. In accordance with standing order 33 (5) of the Senate Standing Orders, the business specified in this notice shall be the only business before the Senate during the special sittings, following which the Senate shall stand adjourned until Tuesday, 15th July, 2025, at 2.30 p.m., in accordance with the Senate calendar.
