NOTICE is given to all Senators that— PURSUANT to section 33 (3) of the County Governments Act, Cap. 265, and standing order 80 (1) (a) of the Senate Standing Orders, the Speaker of the Senate convened a meeting of the Senate on Wednesday, 20th August, 2025, to hear charges against Hon. (Dr.) Erick Kipkoech Mutai, the Governor of Kericho County; FURTHER pursuant to standing order 80 (1) (b) (ii) of the Senate Standing Orders, the Senate by Resolution, on Wednesday, 20th August, 2025, resolved to investigate the proposed removal from office by impeachment, of Hon. (Dr.) Erick Kipkoech Mutai, the Governor of Kericho County in plenary; AND THAT pursuant to standing order 33 (1), on the request of the Senate Majority Leader and with the support of the requisite number of Senators, I have appointed Wednesday, 27th August, 2025, Thursday, 28th August, 2025, and Friday, 29th August, 2025 as days for special sittings of the Senate. The sittings shall be held in the Senate Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi. The sittings shall be held as follows— (a) on Wednesday, 27th August, 2025, commencing at 9.00 a.m.; (b) on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, commencing at 9.00 a.m.; and (c) on Friday, 29th August, 2025 commencing at 9.00 a.m. until the conclusion of the business of the day. The business to be transacted at the sittings shall be the investigation of the proposed removal from Office by impeachment of Hon. (Dr.) Erick Kipkoech Mutai, the Governor of Kericho County; In accordance with standing order 33 (5) of the Senate Standing Orders, the business specified in this notice shall be the only business before the Senate during the Special Sittings, following which the Senate shall stand adjourned until Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025, at 2.30 p.m. in accordance with the Senate calendar.
