THE POLITICAL PARTIES ACT
(Cap. 7D)
REGISTRATION
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 21 (5) of the
Political Parties Act and Regulation 16 (3) of the Political Parties
(Registration) Regulations, 2019, the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that Ukweli Party (UP) was deregistered on 12th January, 2026.
On the grounds that Ukweli Party (UP)—
(a) Has contravened section 21 (1) (i) of the Political Parties Act, by failing to maintain statutory party membership in line with section 7 (2) (a) of the Act;
(b) Has contravened section 21 (1) (a) in terms of Article 91 (1)
(d) of the Constitution by failing to hold National Delegates
Convention (NDC) and internal party elections;
(c) Has contravened section 21 (1) (a) in terms of Article 91 (1)
(g) of the Constitution by failing to publish financial statements for Financial Year 2024/2025 and submit and publish financial statements for Financial Year 2023/2024;
(d) Has contravened section 21 (1) (i) of the Act by failing to maintain county offices in at least twenty-four (24) counties in line with section 7 (2) (f) (iii) of the Act;
(e) Has contravened section 21 (1) (i) of the Act by operating an unregistered party head office contrary to section 7 (2) (f) (ii) of the Act; and
(f) Has contravened section 21 (1) (i) of the Act in terms of
Article 91 (1) (g) by failing to maintain statutory records at the party head office.
