WHEREAS, The Teachers Service Commission is established under Article 237 of the Constitution and is operationalized pursuant to the Teachers Service Commission Act (Cap. 212); 1846 1846 WHEREAS, The Commission is constituted of a Chairperson and eight Members; WHEREAS, Pursuant to Article 250(6) of the Constitution as read with section 5(2) of the Act, the chairperson and Members of the Commission are appointed for a single term of six (6) years and are not eligible for reappointment; WHEREAS, The serving Members of the Commission were appointed in three staggered batches to ensure that their terms of office expire at different times, thereby ensuring seamless transition and effective succession management; WHEREAS, There are impending vacancies in the membership of the Commission arising from the anticipated lapse of the six-year non-renewable term of office of two members of the Commission, with effect from the 2nd May, 2026. NOW THEREFORE, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(2) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, do: I. DECLARE impending vacancies in the position of two Members of the Commission, with effect from the 2nd May, 2026; II. CONSTITUTE a Selection Panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as two Members of the Teachers Service Commission; and III.
