GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 7108

IT IS notified for general information of the public that pursuant to Articles 184 of the Constitution, as read with the First Schedule of Urban Areas and Cities Act, and the Wajir Municipal Charter 2019, that the County Government of Wajir has transferred the following functions that are currently performed by respective County Departments to Wajir Municipality, with effect from the 22nd April, 2026 as set out in the Schedule below: SCHEDULE S/No. Functions Ready for Transfer 1. Design, construction and maintenance of Municipal Roads and associated infrastructure including; (a) Construction of urban roads within the Municipality including; (i) Mapping of road reserves; (ii) Opening of roads; (iii) Survey works; (iv) Installation of culverts; (v) Installation of gabions, cut off drains; and (vi) Periodic and routine maintenance of roads. (b) Maintenance of municipal roads within the Municipality including: (i) Re-carpeting of roads; and (ii) Cleaning of drains. (c) Improving of municipal Roads within the Municipality; (i) Upgrading municipal roads. 2. Construction and Maintenance of walkways and other non- motorized transport infrastructure including; (i) Demarcation of walkways and non-motorized transport areas; (ii) Design and construction of pavements/walkways; (iii) Signage; and (iv) Enforce proper use of walk-ways 4. Promotion, regulation, and provision of Municipal sports and cultural activities: (a) Sports development and management; (i) Cleaning; (ii) Staff deployment. Dated the 22nd April, 2026.
