THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND CO-ORDINATION ACT
(No.8 of 1999)
APPOINTMENT
PURSUANT to regulation 21 of the Environmental (Impact
Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment
Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementatioit of proposed capacity enhancement project for line 4 (pump station 21—Nairobi to pump station 27—Eldoret).
The proposed project consists of the enhancement project for line 4
(pump station 21—Nairobi to pump station 27—Eldoget).
The project will entail the construction of a new independent 325 km. long petroleum products pipeline (line 4) between PS2I (Nairobi)
•and PS27 (Eldoret) within the existing ROW and parallel to their existing line 2 and construction of new pump stations at Ngema, Nakuru and Burnt Forest connected to the 325 km. long pipeline and adjacent to the existing line 2 pump stations.
The project anticipates the following impacts and mitigation measures.

1.Oil leaks from and fugitive • Develop, rollout and implement a hydrocarbon spills storm water management plan,• spill management plan and emergency response and contingency plan.
2.Air pollution
• Dust control program including watering extremely dusty areas in order to suppress dust.

INVITATION OF PUBLIC COMMENTS
PURSUANT to regulation 21 of the Environmental (Impact
Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment
Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of proposed
Mumbai Shopping Complex.
The proposed project entails development of a modem shopping complex of three storeys.

The intake of the project is net to Pumwani "B" land No.
209/1868, off Digo Road, Eastleigh.
The project anticipates the following impacts and mitigation measures.
Possible impacts Mitigation measures
1. Air pollution • All work areas will be regularly watered down.
•Use of well maintained construction plant and equipment.
•Good house keeping shall be implemented.
2. Occupational health and • Construction activities will be safety conducted in accordance with applicable Kenyan construction health and safety standard.
•Comply with health and safety regulations agreed with proponent.
•Fire detection/suppression plant and other equipment shall be regurly maintained.
•Barrrier tape and warning signs shall be put in place
3. Water quality. • Construction of makeshift toilets facilities and connected to sewer line.
. Bins shall be provided on site.
• Prevention of leakage and spillage.
•Stockpiling of sand, gravel and stones.
4. Noise pollution
• As per requirements C2
•Contractor shall comply strictly with the provisions of Kenyan explosives regulations.
5. Water flow and erossion • Build a drainage system.
•Proper disposal of waste.
•Planting grass on open spaces.
6. Loss of aesethetics • Landscaping.
•Tree planting.
•Paving foot.
7. Traffic, road and
• Construction vehicles to use the construction site safety
