THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND CO-ORDINATION ACT
(No. 8 of 1999)
REGULATION
PURSUANT to regulation 21 of the Environmental (Impact
Assessment and Audit) Regulations, the National Environment
Management Authority (NEMA) has received an environmental impact assessment study report for the implementation of proposed expansion of salt harvesting on L.R. No. 13427, Marereni, Malindi.
The proposed project entails construction of brine concentration and salt harvesting ponds.
The project is located at Marereni on plot No. L.R. 13427, Malindi.
The project anticipates the following impacts and mitigation measures.

1. Soil disturbance, erosion • Provide storm water drainage and subsequent effects channels.
•Provide soil conservation structures.
•Control construction activities during rainy seasons.
•Plant grass with salinity tolerance on ponds.
