GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 2306

NOTICE is given that application under section 18 (2) of the Mining Act has been made by Messrs. Shan Zhang Company Limited, of P.O. Box 95–00507, Nairobi, Kenya for exclusive prospecting licence to prospect for non-precious minerals over an area described in the schedule hereto and the said application has been accepted for consideration. By virtue of section 7 (1) (d) of the Mining Act the said area of land is therefore excluded from prospecting and or mining except as regards any prospecting and mining rights granted in respect of the area in question or any part thereof before the date of this notice which are subsisting or any right of renewal thereof. Any objection to the grant of the exclusive prospecting licence may be made in writing and addressed to the Commissioner of Mines and Geology, P.O. Box 30009–00100, Nairobi, Kenya to reach him within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice. SCHEDULE An area of approximately 856km situated in Kitui District of Eastern Province, delineated on Kitui topo sheet Ref. No. SA-37-6 of scale 1: 250,000 and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at point ―A‖ grid reference CJ 8859; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 20km to point ―B‖ grid reference DJ 0859; thence on a grid bearing of 167 for a distance of approximately 6km to point ―C‖ grid reference DJ 1053; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 33km to point ―D‖ grid reference DJ 1020; thence on a grid bearing of 270 for a distance of approximately 22km to point ―E‖ grid reference CJ 8820; thence on a grid bearing of 360 for a distance of approximately 39km to the point of commencement.
