GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 2898

NOTICE is given that an application under section 39 of the Mining Act has been made by Messrs. Elba Mines Limited, P.O. Box 46817–00100, Nairobi, Kenya for a Mining Lease to mine gemstones over an area described in schedule hereto and the said application has been accepted for consideration. By virtue of the above mentioned section of the Mining Act, the said area of land is therefore re-opened to prospecting and/or mining and by virtue of section 7 (1) (d) of the same Act, the said area of land is excluded from prospecting and /or mining except as regards any prospecting and mining rights granted in respect of the area or any part thereof before the date of this notice which are subsisting or any right of renewal thereof. Any objection to the grant of the Mining Lease may be made in writing and addressed to the Commissioner of Mines and Geology, P.O. Box 30009–00100, Nairobi, Kenya to reach him within ninety (90) days from the date of publication of this notice. SCHEDULE An area of approximately 15 km situated in Samburu District of Rift Valley Province, delineated on Masiketa Topo Sheet Ref. Nos. 65/4 of scale 1:50,000 and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at point ‗A‘ grid reference BM 650895; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 2.0 km to point ‗B‘ grid reference BM 670895; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 2.5 km to point ‗C‘ grid reference BM 670870; thence on a grid bearing of 2800 for a distance of approximately 0.5 km to point ‗D‘ grid reference BM 665870; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 2.5 km to point ‗E‘ grid reference BM 665845; thence on a grid bearing of 2800 for a distance of approximately 0.5 km to point ‗F‘ grid reference BM 660840; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 2.5 km to point ‗G‘ grid reference BM 660845; thence on a grid bearing of 2800 for a distance of approximately 2.0 km to point ‗H‘ grid reference BM 640820; thence on a grid bearing of 360 for a distance of approximately 2.5 km to point ‗I‘ grid reference BM 640845; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 0.5 km to point ‗J‘ grid reference BM 645845; thence on a grid bearing of 360 for a distance of approximately 2.5 km to point ‗K‘ grid reference BM 645870; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 0.5 km to point ‗L‘ grid reference BM 650870; thence on a grid bearing of 360 for a distance of approximately 2.5 km to the point of commencement.
