IT IS notified for information of the general public that the Minister for Livestock Development has established a Committee to be known as the Animal Welfare Policy and Legislation Review National Task Force. 1. The Committee shall comprise of the following: Julius T. Kariuki (Dr.)—(Chairperson), Charles Kimwele (Dr.)—(Vice Chairperson), Hesbon L. Awando (Dr.), Elizabeth Ouko (Dr.), Samuel Yegon, Jean Gilchrist (Ms.), Christopher Wanga (Dr.), John D. Mande (Dr.), Josphat Ngonyo, Lucy Njagi (Dr.), Dr. Francis Gakuya (Dr.), Mary N. Gichure, James Isiche, Rose Mwema, Sidney Tawuo, 2. The Terms of reference of the National Task Force: (a) To develop an animal welfare policy and harmonize it with other relevant sectoral policies. (b) To create awareness and conduct public education on Animal Welfare policy and legislation. (c) To collect and collate views from various stakeholders on the animal welfare policy and legislation in a consultative process. (d) To identify the stakeholders to be included in the consultative process. (e) To represent different stakeholder groups in policy formulation. (f) To identify and analyze policy issues and guide the policy development process. (g) To define national goals and aspirations. (h) To revise the Animal Welfare Policy and Legislation to be in line with regional and international Animal Welfare Policies and Statutes. (i) Any other matter that may arise.
