PURSUANT to Environmental Management and Coordination (Conservation of Biological Diversity and Resources, Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit Sharing) Regulation 2006, (L.N. 160 of 2006) the National Environment Management Authority has received applications for Access permit from: 1. Siva Sandaresan, Mpala Research Centre, Nanyuki, P. O. Box 10400, Nanyuki. Activity.—Collection of hair, dung, tissue and blood samples from grevy’s and pain zebra from Laikipia County. Lab analysis will be carried out the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department, University of California, Los Angeles. 2. Berit Gehrke, Institut fur Spezielle Botanik, Johannes Gutenber- Unviversitat, 55099, Mainz, Germany. Activity.—Collection of Standard herbarium specimens of 29 species of senecio s. str. (Asteraceae) for identification from within the National Park boundaries of Mt. Kenya, Abardare Mountains and Mt. Elgon, area above 2800 elevation. 3. National Museaum of Kenya—Institute of Primate Research, P.O. Box 24481, Karen, Nairobi. Activity.—Scientific Data on disease parthogenesis, host immune reponse, diagnostic testing of Vervet Monkey and Baboon. Project location NMK–IPR Animal and Reseach facilities at Karen, Oloolua Forest. The authority is therefore inviting members of the Public to submit oral or written comments within twenty-one (21) days from the date of publication of the notice to the Director General to assist the Authority in the determination of the application.
