GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 1268

NOTICE is given that an application under section 17 of the Mining Act has been made by Messrs. Afro Pride Limited, of P.O. Box 830, Garissa, Kenya for a special licence to prospect for gypsum THE KENYA GAZETTE 3rd February, 2012 290 290 over an area described in schedule hereto and the said application has been accepted for consideration. By virtue of the above mentioned section of the Mining Act, the said area of land is therefore re-opened to prospecting and mining and by virtue of section 7 (1) (d) of the same Act, the said area of land is therefore excluded from prospecting and or mining except as regards any prospecting and mining rights granted in respect of the area in question or any part thereof before the date of this notice which are subsisting or any right of renewal thereof. Any objection to the grant of the special licence may be made in writing and addressed to the Commissioner of Mines and Geology, P.O. Box 30009–00100, Nairobi, Kenya to reach him within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice. SCHEDULE An area of approximately 546 km situated in Garissa District of North Eastern Province, delineated Garissa topo sheet Ref No. SA-37- 3of scale 1: 250,000 and more particularly described as follows: Commencing at point ―A‖ grid reference EK 7550; thence on a grid bearing of 337 for a distance of approximately 38.1 km to point ―B‖ grid reference EK 6085; thence on a grid bearing of 90 for a distance of approximately 20 km to point ―C‖ grid reference EK 8085; thence on a grid bearing of 180 for a distance of approximately 5 km to point ―D‖ grid reference 8080; thence on a grid bearing of 174 for a distance of approximately 18.2 km to point ―E‖ grid reference EK 8262; thence on a grid bearing of 139 for a distance of approximately 15.4 km to point ―F‖ grid reference EK 9250; thence on a grid bearing of 270 for a distance of approximately 17.5 km to the point of commencement.
