ACT
PURSUANT to section 8 of the Statutory Instruments Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry notifies the general public that a Regulatory Impact Statement on the proposed
Standards Levy Order, 2023 has been prepared to assess the impact of the Order on the community and business.
The main objective of the proposed Order is to facilitate the implementation of section 10B of the Standards Act. Specifically, the
Order contains—
(a) provisions as to the evidence by which a person’s liability for the levy or the discharge of that liability must be established;
(b) the time at which any amount payable by any person by way of the levy shall become due;
(c) the way the levy shall be recoverable by the Director; and
(d) classes or description of industry to which the Order may apply.
This is therefore to request all persons likely to be affected by the proposed Order to submit written memorandum on the proposed Order to reach the Director within fourteen (14) days from the date of the publication of this notice.
The draft Regulatory Impact Statement and the proposed Order are available on the Kenya Bureau of Standards website at www.kebs.org.
