APPOINTMENT
under the
Act;
(c) supervise the efficient and effective management of all Waqf properties registered under the Act;
(d) ensure the effective implementation of the provisions of the
Act;
(e) establish such structures as may be necessary for the effective performance of its functions or exercise of its powers under the
Act;
(f) formulate policies for the performance of its functions;
(g) collect zakat and other charitable contributions from Muslims for the purposes of the Act;
(h) develop and facilitate adequate continuous training programmes to enhance the standard and effectiveness of trustees;
(i) formulate, implement and oversee programmes to raise awareness on Waqf matters; and
(j) perform such other functions as may be prescribed by the Act or any other written law.
3. Terms of service of members of the Waqf Commission:
The members of the Waqf Commission shall hold office for a period of five (5) years and are eligible for re-appointment for one further term of five (5) years.
4. How to apply:
(a) Each application shall be accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, testimonials and other relevant supporting documents, and copies of the national identity card or passport of the applicant. Scanned copies of the documents shall accompany each online application.

(b) Applications shall be clearly marked “Application for position of Member, Waqf Commission” and submitted in any ONE of the following ways:
(i) Hard copies of the applications may be hand-delivered to the fourth floor, Office of the Attorney-General and
Department of Justice, Sheria House, Harambee Avenue.
(ii) Online applications shall be emailed to info@ag.go.ke.
(iii) Hard copies of the applications may be sent by post to:
Selection Panel for the nomination of the Members of the Waqf
Commission, Office of the Attorney-General and Department of Justice, P.O. Box 40112–00100, Nairobi.
5. Shortlisted applicants to obtain clearances:
(a) The names of shortlisted applicants shall be published in the print media after the closure of the advert.
(b) Shortlisted applicants shall be required to obtain clearances from the following bodies:
(i) Kenya Revenue Authority;
(ii) Higher Education Loans Board;
(iii) Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
(iv) Directorate of Criminal Investigations; and
(v) a registered Credit Reference Bureau.
6. Deadline for applications
The deadline for submitting applications shall be fourteen (14) days from the date of publication of this Notice.
