THE CROPS ACT

REGISTRATION

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 7 (2) of the Crops Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development declares Cocoa (Theobroma cocoa) as a Scheduled Crop under Part 3 of the First Schedule of the Crop Act. Cocoa shall be developed and regulated in accordance with the provisions of the Agriculture and Food Authority Act, 2013, the Crops Act, 2013 and any Regulations made thereunder. The Agriculture and Food Authority shall in addition take the following developments and regulations measures— (a) develop cocoa through Capacity building of the industry players on the best agronomic practices; (b) registration of Cocoa by Registering and licensing the industry players and ensuring compliance to set the standards; and- (c) creating market linkage in both local and international markets.
