GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 4135

IT IS notified for the general information of the public that the Attorney-General has appointed a Committee consisting of the following— The Solicitor-General —(Chairperson); Members: The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Defence, or his representative The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, or his representative The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts, or his representative The Inspector-General, National Police Service, or his representative The Commissioner-General of Prisons, or his representative The Head, Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, or his representative The Director-General, Kenya Red Cross Society, or his representative. 1. The terms of reference of the Committee are to— co-ordinate and monitor the implementation of International Humanitarian Law in Kenya; advise the Government on International Humanitarian Law instruments that need to be ratified; review existing legislation and recommend amendments where necessary; recommend new legislation where applicable; advise and assist in reporting obligations; (J7 advise on administrative measures required; co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate dissemination; and. undertake or commission research on development in 10th June, 2016 THE KENYA GAZETTE 2383 International Humanitarian Law and make appropriate recommendations to the Government. In the execution of its mandate, the Committee may, with the approval of the Attorney-General- (a) co-opt members who possess the relevant expertise, skills and experience necessary for the performanóe of its functions; b) source-additional funding for its activities; and (c) perform any other activities necessary forthe expedient execution of its mandate. The Committee shall execute its mandate with diligence and speed and shall submit its annual report to the Attorney-General not later than 31st December of each year. The Secretariat of the Committee shall be based at the Attorney- General's Chambers, 2nd Floor, Room No. 207, P.O. Box 40112- 00100, Nairobi and submission of memoranda by members of the public shall be addressed to the Chairperson.
