NOTICE is given to the general public that pursuant to the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998 (as amended) and Kenya Information and Communications Regulations, 2001 (as amended), the Postal Corporation of Kenya (hereinafter referred to as "PCK"), a body corporate established by the Postal Corporation of Kenya Act (No. 3 of 1998), has applied to the Communications Authority of Kenya for approval to revise its postage rates as shown in Table 1. TABLE I: DOMESTIC RATES FOR DOMESTIC MAILS Category Current Rate (KSh.) Proposed Rate (KS/i) Domestic Letter Postage Rate 35 50 PCK last reviewed these rates in the year 2012 and aver that since then their costs of doing business have greatly increased, necessitating the need to review their current tariffs. They cite increase in fuel prices, increase in rent on leased business premises, introduction of VAT charges on postal products, increased wages and welfare costs, general operating expenses and license fees as the causes of the increase in costs. The proposed review of tariffs is likely to affect the public, local authorities, companies, persons or bodies of persons within the Republic of Kenya. Any person or local authority, company or body of persons desirous of making any representation on or objection to the proposed new tariffs must do so by a letter addressed to The Director- General, Communications Authority of Kenya, Waiyaki Way, P.O. Box 14448-00800, Nairobi,indicating "Postal Tariff Review"on the outside of the cover enclosing it on or before the expiry of 30 days from the date of this notice and must forward to PCK a copy of the representation or objection.
