GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 8888

IT IS NOTIFIED for the information of the general public that pursuant to Article 178 of the Constitution and Standing Order 5 of the County Assembly Standing Orders, the office of the Speaker of the County Assembly shall become vacant upon the first sitting of the County Assembly on Thursday, 7th September, 2017 at 9.00 a.m. Article 178 of the Constitution provides that each County Assembly shall have a Speaker elected by the County Assembly from among persons who are not Members of the Assembly, who shall be elected by that County Assembly in accordance with the Standing Orders, from among persons who are qualified to be elected as members of County Assembly but are not such members and that the office of the Speaker shall become vacant when a new County Assembly first meets after an election. Pursuant to County Assembly Standing Orders 3(1), the Governor of the County of Garissa has vide Legal Notice No. 1 of 2017, notified that the first sitting of the County Assembly shall be held at the County Assembly Buildings, Garissa on the 7th September, 2017, at. 9.00 a.m. Interested persons who qualify to be elected as members of County assembly but are not such members are therefore invited to submit their nomination papers for election to the office of Clerk of the County Assembly of Garissa. Nomination papers and application forms can be collected from the office of the Clerk of the County Assembly at Garissa County Assembly Buildings, Garissa during working on Saturday, 2nd September, 2017 and Sunday, 3rd September, 2017, between 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Completed nomination papers and application forms, together with detailed curriculum vitae of the candidates and relevant supporting documents, should be submitted to the office of the Clerk of the County Assembly at the County Assembly Buildings, Garissa not later than 9.00 a.m. on Tuesday, 5th September, 2017.
