Pursuant to Regulation 21 of the Environmental Management and Co-ordination (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental Impact Assessment Study Report for the above proposed project. The proponent, Devki Steel Mills Limited, is proposing to install and operate a steel milling plant where already manufactured steel will be reprocessed into various construction steel products. The proposed plant is designed to produce a total capacity of 300,000 tons of steel products per annum. It will consist of storage yard, 32 MW captive power plant, SMS and rolling mill. Support installations will include the following: • Workshop—To cater for the day to day repairs and maintenance works. • Fuel oil complex—To be used for fuel storage and lubrication • Laboratory—For quality control, to cater for metallurgical and mechanical testing at rolling stages. • Site buildings—These will include: Guest house, canteen, mosque and storage facilities.
