Pursuant to Regulation 21 of the Environmental Management and Coordination (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has received an Environmental Impact Assessment Study Report for the above proposed project. The proponent, Vaal Development and Investment Limited, is proposing to construct residential apartments comprising 92No. parking lots, 42No. two bedroom units, 120 No. one bedroom units, a community hall, a swimming pool, associated facilities and amenities on plot L.R. No. 209/2144/1, Westlands, Nairobi City County. The following are the anticipated impacts and proposed mitigation measures: Impacts Proposed Mitigation Measures Vegetation • Restore cleared sites with indigenous vegetation disturbance upon completion of construction. • Levelling and grading of the resultant construction site. • Restoring animal habitats to their near original status. Soil and water • All heavy trucks and any other motorized pollution machinery must be maintained well to avoid fugitive spills. • Equipment and washing activities during construction to be done in designated areas with impervious surface with interceptors for oily wastes.
