The project will comprise: development of 220 kV overhead double circuit transmission line supported by steel-lattice type transmission towers from Mariakani 400/220 kV Substation to Mombasa SEZ; development of 220/33 kV substation inside. Mombasa SEZ, th& substation will mainly consist of transformers (75 MVA x 2 units), control building and access road; and development of 33 kV overhead double circuit distribution line (supported by concrete pole/foundation) inside Mombasa SEZ from 220/33 kV substation.
