NOTICE is given that the preparation of the above development plan was on llth March, 2009, completed. The development plan relate to land situated within Busia Municipality. Copies of the development plan as prepared has been deposited for public inspection at the Office of County Physical Planning Officer, Basta and office of Chief Officer, Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Busia County. The copies so deposited are available for inspection free of charge by all persons interested at the the Office of County Physical Planning Officer, Busia and office of Chief Officer, Lands, Housing and Urban 5th April, 2019 THE KENYA GAZETTE 1287 Wastewater Oil pollution Solid waste management Impacts Storm water Proposed Mitigation Measures engineering controls. • Monitor quality of stack emissions. • Use of air—conditioned, closed cabins where necessary. • Install dust extraction systems. • Dust reduction through engineering and administrative measures. • Air ventilation (suction). • Workers to use appropriate PPE. • Obtain air Emission license from NEMA as required under Air Quality Regulations, 2014. • Storm water should be separated from prpcess and sanitary wastewater streams. • Runoff should be minimized and the peak discharge rate be reduced (e.g. through landscaping, retention ponds etc.). • Oil water separators and grease traps should be installed and maintained as appropriate along the drainage channels. • Drainage channels should be lined with impervious surface to minimize soil erosion. • Proper storage, handling and disposal of new oil and used oil and•related wastes. • Provide oil interceptors along the drains leading from car wash areas. • Maintenance of construction vehicles should be carried out in the contractor's yard (off the site). • Recycle and reuse where applicable. • Segregate for appropriate disposal. • Process and Technological improvement to minimize waste generation. • Material substitution to minimize waste generation. • Waste disposal as provided for in the Environmental Management and Coordination (Waste Management) Regulations, 2006. • Provide appropriate waste handling receptacles. • Safe disposal of electronic waste. • Adaption of water conservation measures. • Formulation of an elaborate Waste Water Management Plan. • Segregation of wastewater streams. • Treatment of wastewater to meet national standards for sanitary wastewater discharge before release into the environment. • Obtain an Effluent Discharge License from NEMA for discharge into the environment. • Quarterly monitoring of wastewater quality as required under Water Quality Regulations, 2006.
