GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 790

PURSUANT to section 20 of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, 2011 and Article 5 of the Kilifi Municipal Charter, the County Executive Committee delegates the following functions to be undertaken by the Kilifi Municipality, with effect from the 21st December, 2019— (a) promotion, regulation and provision of refuse collection and solid waste management services; (b) construction and maintenance of storm drainage and flood controls; (c) construction and maintenance of walkways and other non- motorized transport infrastructure; (d) construction and maintenance of recreational parks and green spaces; (e) construction and maintenance of street lighting; (f) construction, maintenance and regulation of traffic controls and parking facilities; (g) construction and maintenance of bus stands and taxi stands; (h) construction and maintenance of fire stations; provision of fire- fighting services, emergency preparedness and disaster management; (i) promotion, regulation and provision of animal control and welfare; and (j) municipal administration services (including construction and maintenance of administrative offices). The concerned departments shall transfer or second technical personnel to the Kilifi Municipality for effective and efficient service delivery. In addition, the County Executive Committee Member for Finance shall put in place arrangements to ensure that the resources necessary for the performance of the above functions are transferred to the Kilifi Municipality.
