IT IS notified for the general information of the public that pursuant to section 65 (4) (c) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife has appointed a Task Force on the Wildlife Corridor Connectivity between the Nairobi National Park and the Athi-Kapiti Plains. The Task Force shall consist of— Helen Gichohi (Dr.) — Chairperson Members Erustus Kanga (Dr.) Ali Kaka Sam Weru 14th August, 2020 THE KENYA GAZETTE 3161 Caroline Nkamunu Patita Bernard Opaa Nobby Macharia Joint Secretaries Joseph Mbyati Mukeka (Dr.) Bernard Njuguna Ngoru Raphael Kiplagat Meli The Task Force may co-opt any person with relevant skills and expertise required for the purpose of executing its mandate; Terms of Reference The Terms of Reference for the Task Force shall be to— (a) establish the existing corridors between the Nairobi National Park and the Athi-Kapiti Plains; (b) establish the viability of the ranches within the Athi-Kapiti Plains as dispersal areas for wildlife from the Nairobi National Park; (c) identify viable corridors for government investment; (d) identify partnerships for sustainability of wildlife conservation in the Athi-Kapiti Plains; (e) provide recommendations on an appropriate framework for establishing the wildlife corridor connectivity between the Nairobi National Park and the Athi-Kapiti Plains with financial and other resource requirements; (f) collect and collate data, and prepare a Final Report with clear remnmendations on practical methods to realize the wildlife corridor connectivity, and a financial plan thereof. Term of Office The term of office for the Task Force shall be sixty (60) days from the date of publication of this notice, and the Task Force shall submit to the Cabinet Secretary an interim report within seven (7) days after lapse of term of office. Reporting In the performance of its mandate, the Task Force shall be responsible to the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife. Secretariat The Secretariat of the Task Force shall be based at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. Dated the 11th August, 2020.
