GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 4318

IT IS notified for the information of the general public that the Attorney-General has constituted a taskforce on the development of the National Council on the Administration of Justice Bill. 1. The Taskforce shall comprise of the following─ Hon. Justice David Majanja– Chairperson Members. Muthoni Njung’e 2. The terms of reference of the Taskforce shall be to— (a) develop a Bill to institutionalize the National Council for the Administration of Justice; (b) conduct public participation on the process; (c) perform any other task assigned by the Attorney-General in relation thereto. 3. In the performance of its functions, the Taskforce– (a) shall regulate its own procedure; (b) may hold such number of meetings in such places and at such times as it may consider necessary for the discharge of its functions; (c) may solicit, receive and consider the views of members of the public and any interest groups; (d) may co-opt other persons who possess expertise, skills or experience relevant to its mandate where the taskforce considers it necessary. 4. The Taskforce shall finalize its task within a period of one year from the date of publication of this notice or such longer period as the Attorney-General may by notice in the Gazette, prescribe. 5. The Taskforce shall submit its report together with a draft Bill to the Attorney-General at the end of the period specified in paragraph 4. 6. The costs incurred by the Taskforce including facilitation and payment of allowances in respect of the members and joint secretaries of the Taskforce shall be defrayed from the voted funds of the Judiciary. 7. The Secretariat of the Taskforce shall be at the offices of the National Council for the Administration of Justice, 5th Floor, Mayfair Centre, Ralph Bunche Road, Nairobi. Dated the 7th April, 2022.
