APPOINTMENT
IT IS notified for the general information of the public that the
Cabinet Secretary for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by section 107 (2) of the Health Act, in consultation with the Ministry of
Education, the Commission of University Education and other stakeholders, hereby appoints the Intersectoral Committee on Health
Workforce Education and Training Reforms.
1. The Intersectoral Committee shall comprise—

2. The Terms of Reference for the Intersectoral Committee are to:
(a) Facilitate the review of the current core curricular for the following Courses:
(i) Medicine;
(ii) Dentistry;
(iii) Nursing;
(iv) Clinical Medicine;
(v) Laboratory Technology;
(vi) Radiology;
(vii) Pharmacy;
(viii) Nutrition;
(ix) Public Health;
(x) Physiotherapy;
(xi) Oral Health; and
(xii) All other health care related courses.
(b) Establish a road map to launch the revised medical or dental program by the 15th August, 2022.
(c) Initiate institutionalization of leadership, management and soft skills into the training and educational programmes.
(d) Identify and incorporate elements of the following key components:
(i) Medical Ethics and Professionalism;
(ii) Certification of Deaths;
(iii) Leadership and Strategic thinking;
(iv) Digital Technology and Innovation;
(v) Research;
(vi) Critical Thinking;
(vii) Entrepreneurship;
(viii) Environmental Health;
(ix) Patriotism;
(x) Gender and Health;
(xi) Soft skills (communication, interpersonal, emotional intelligence, time management, collegiality, multidisciplinary and team work, and others); and
(xii) On-the-job training.
(e) Develop a deployment approach for the revised curricular.
3. The Committee may constitute various sub-committees to address issues pertinent to any cadre specific core-curriculum.
4. The term of the Intersectoral Committee shall be a period of twenty-four months from the date of publication of this Gazette Notice and the Cabinet Secretary may, where necessary, extend the term for such a period as he may consider necessary.
