IN ACCORDANCE with section 15 of the Rating Act (Cap. 267), notice is given to all rateable property owners that the rates for the year 2024 shall be due and payable as from the 1st day of January 2024 up to 31st March, 2024, and any rates remaining unpaid after this later date will attract interest as by law provided. In accordance with this year's Finance Act, the rates per cent struck is 0.75% of the Unimproved Site Value as appearing in the current 2017 Draft Valuation Roll. However, His Excellency the Governor has accorded all the rates payers a waiver of 0.5% of the rates as that would have been due and payable and made adjustments in respect of Large Scale Farms, all as follows: • Rates due and payable for the year 2024 will be assessed at a rate per cent struck of 0.25% of the Unimproved Site Values as appearing in the Draft Valuation Roll, 2017. • A general waiver over all Large Scale Farms from assessment on unimproved Site Value Rate form of rating and substituted with a Graduated Rate form of rating as follows: (i) 1s 100 Acres @ KSh. 100 per acre.
