PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF KENYA ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS’ EXAMINATION APRIL, 2000 NOTIFICATION IT IS notified for general information that this year’s Administra- tive Officers’ Examination scheduled for April, 2000 will be held on Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th April, 2000 in accordance with the provisions of Personnel Circular No. 1 of 4th February, 1971. . SrRuCTURE OF EXAMINATION The examination will consist of the following six test papers, held over three days as follows: (a) Monday, 17th April, 2000— 1. Law 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon; 2. Government Organization Practices and Functions 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. (b) Tuesday, 18th April, 2000— 3. Human Resource Management 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon; 4. Public Financial Management and Control 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. (c) Wednesday, 19th April, 2000— 5. Economic Development 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon. 6. Regional and International Cooperation 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. (d) Thursday, 20th April, 2000— 7. Effective Communication, Applied Logic and Decision Making 9 a.m. to 12.00 noon. 2. SYLLABUS The syllabus has been changed as per Circular Ref. PA II/1A/II/5S1 of 15th July, 1997 from the Permanent Secretary, Provincial Adminis- tration and International Security. 3. Evicipintry to ENTER The examination is open to administrative officers, in the service, serving cither as administrative officers in the provincial administra- tion, assistant secretaries in the ministries or second/third secretaries in the foreign service. 4, EXEMPTIONS (a) Candidates who have attempted this examination and passed in one or more subjects will be exempted from the subjects they have passed; they will have to resit only the subjects they have failed. (b) Serving officers with legal qualifications from accredited univer- sities may on application to the Permanent Secretary, Office of the President, Nairobi, be exempted from Sitting the law paper. Exempted candidates must quote the reference numbers of their letters of exemption(s). Candidates who have previously passed any Papers are required to indicate the year and month in which they have passed. 5. REGISTRATION FEE Each candidate will be required to pay a registration fee of KSh. 1,200 only. The fee which is non-refundable should be paid in Banker’s cheque only, payable to the Secretary, Public Service Commission of Kenya, Nairobi. Kenya Government cheques, Person- al cheques, money orders and postal orders will NOT be accepted. 6. Entry Forms Candidates are required to complete the entry form in duplicate as set out in the “Appendix” to this circular letter. The forms should be reproduced by each ministry/department as Necessary. The duly completed entry forms, accompanied by the correct registration fee should be submitted through the Permanent Secret- ary, Office of the President, Harambee House, Nairobi, to thé Secretary, Public Service Commission of Kenya, Nairobi, so as to reach him not later than Friday, 3rd March, 2000. Under no circumstances will late entries be accepted. -The Permanent Secretary, Office of the President is asked to ensure that all entry forms are properly filled and submitted in time. 7, EXAMINATION CENTRES Candidates are asked to note that the examination will be held at Jamhuri High School in Nairobi and not the Provincial Headquarters as has been the practice.
