IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 42A of the Constitution of Kenya, section 57 of the Local Government Act and rule 12 of the Local Government Election Rules, the Electoral Commission gives notice that: (a) An election is to be held to determine the councillor to serve each of the electoral areas (wards) in the respective local authorities as set out in the schedule hereunder. (b) Each political party wishing to participate in the election must finalize the nomination of its candidates on or before 25th August, 1998. (c) The days for the nomination of the candidates for the councillors will be 26th and 27th August, 1998 and the nomination papers, which may be collected from the returning officers in whose jurisdiction the electoral area falls, may be delivered by the candidates to the returning officer concerned at between the hours of eight o’clock in [1397 the morning and one o’clock in the afternoon and between the hours of two o’clock and four o’clock in the afternoon of the days.
