GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 13201

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by sections 36 and 38 of the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, as read together with regulations 3 and 5 of the Physical and Land Use Planning (County Physical and Land Use Development Plan) Regulations, 2021, and sections 102, 103, 104, 105 and 106 of the County Governments Act, 2012, the County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development gives notice of the intention to prepare the Kisumu County Physical and Land Use Development Plan (2026–2036). Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38(1) of the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, 2019, notice is given that the County Government of Kisumu, intends to commence the preparation of the above Plan on the 1st September, 2026. The purpose of the plan is to guide, harmonize and facilitate development in the entire Kisumu County. The goal is to prepare a GIS-based plan that covers the full extent of the county to strategically guide development for a period of ten years and to facilitate the transformation of the lives of its citizens. The objectives of the plan are: (a) To provide an overall physical and land use development framework for the county, (b) To guide urban and rural development, settlement patterns and sustainable growth, (c) To provide a basis for infrastructure and service delivery, (d) To guide the use and management of natural resources, (e) To enhance environmental protection and conservation, (f) To improve transport and communication network and linkages, (g) To promote efficient utilization of land as a limited resource, and (h) To encourage desirable and efficient land use patterns. Comments on the proposed plan may be directed to the County Executive Committee Member for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, County Government of Kisumu, P.O.
