Job details: Ref: V/No. 6/2016 Terms of Service: Constitutional Office Tenure of office: As per Article 167 of the Constitution. Constitutional and Statutory Requirements for Appointment: For appointment to the position of Chief Justice, the applicant must possess the following minimum qualifications: 1.Hold a law degree from a recognized university or be an advocate of the High Cchrt of Kenya or possess an equivalent qualification in a common-law jurisdiction; 2.Possess at least fifteen (15) years' experience as a superior court judge or a distinguished academic, judicial officer, legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field; or 3.Hold the qualifications mentioned in paragraph (1) and (2) above for a period amounting, in the aggregate to fifteen (15) years. (Note• Experience gained in Kenya or in another Commonwealth Country with a common-law jurisdiction will be considered) 4.Be of high moral character, integrity and impartiality. 5.Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. 6.In addition, the applicants must demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, making of good judgments in both legal and life experiences and commitment to public and community service.
